We pay at living wage. A farmer’s skill, time, and knowledge are worth it. We treat the people who work this land the way the land deserves to be treated.
No two days are the same. You’ll plant, harvest, prepare beds, work in soil, and learn directly from the farm. This is hands-on, practical work that builds knowledge you carry for life.
Every decision on this farm is made for people seven generations from now. When you work here, you are part of something that takes the long view. That is not a tagline. It is how we operate.
This farm exists inside Downsview Park and serves North York. The people you will work alongside, feed, and train live nearby. This is not abstract community work. It is specific, local, and real.
Funded through the Canada Summer Jobs programme. Open to youth aged 15–30. Work directly on the farm at Downsview Park — planting, harvesting, bed maintenance, soil care, and supporting school and community programming. Paid at living wage. No farming experience required. Contact careers@zawadi.farm with your name, age, and a short note on why you want to work the land.
May through November. Full growing season on a working no-till regenerative farm. Responsibilities include seeding, transplanting, cultivation, harvesting, CSA box preparation, irrigation, and soil maintenance. We are looking for people who want to learn as much as they want to work. Paid at living wage. To apply, email jessey@zawadi.farm with your background and availability.
Volunteer days run throughout the growing season. You work the farm alongside our team — real tasks, real soil, real contribution. Suitable for individuals, community members, and small groups. We ask for a minimum three-hour commitment per visit. No experience needed, just willingness to show up and get your hands in the ground. To join a volunteer day, email jessey@zawadi.farm with your preferred dates.
Our flagship training programme. Learn to farm on this land — no-till practice, soil biology, seed selection, crop planning, and community food systems. Training happens on the farm at Downsview Park alongside experienced growers. Paid at living wage for eligible participants. Rooted in the Seventh Generation Principle. Applications open rolling. Email jessey@zawadi.farm to start a conversation.
Don’t see the right fit above? We want to hear from you anyway. If you want to work on a regenerative farm, contribute to community food access, support school programming, or partner with us in another way — reach out. Email jessey@zawadi.farm and tell us who you are and what you want to build.
