VOLUNTEERS

Work the land alongside our team

Volunteer days at Zawadi Farm are rooted in real farm work. You are not helping with a programme — you are contributing directly to the farm that feeds this community. What a volunteer day looks like: — Arrive at 160 Downsview Park Blvd — A brief orientation on the farm and its mission — 3–4 hours of hands-on work: planting, weeding, harvesting, bed preparation, composting — A farm lunch or break (depending on session) Who this is for: individuals, community groups, faith communities, student clubs, and organisations looking to build with their neighbours rather than donate from a distance. Volunteer days run through the growing season, May to November. Fill in the form to register your group or express individual interest.

CORPORATE — CSR & TEAM EXPERIENCES

A day your team will actually remember

CSR at Zawadi Farm is not a photo opportunity. It is a day of real work, real context, and a real connection to what it takes to grow food with dignity in the city.

Your team works in the growing beds alongside our farmers. They learn what no-till means, why soil health matters, and what food sovereignty looks like in practice — not in a presentation, but in the ground.

What a CSR day can include: — Half day (3–4 hours) or full day of farm work — Facilitated discussion on food systems and regenerative agriculture — Catering and use of The Barn at Zawadi Farm (optional, quoted separately) — Bespoke programming for teams with specific CSR objectives — Impact summary for CSR reporting Groups of 10–60+. Custom formats available. Pricing quoted on request.

Every CSR day directly supports the farm’s mission: growing food, building community, and restoring dignity in the city. That is not a tagline on a wall. It is where your team will spend their day.

Common questions

Is Zawadi Farm on the TDSB approved vendor list? Yes. Zawadi Farm is an official TDSB-approved vendor. Teachers can book through the school inquiry form and we will provide all documentation required for the visit approval process.

Can we bring a class that includes students with accessibility needs? Yes. Please note accessibility requirements in the school inquiry form. The farm is at Downsview Park and we will do our best to accommodate all participants. Contact education@zawadi.farm for specific needs.

Is a volunteer day the same as a paid private workshop? No. Volunteer days are unpaid contribution days — you work the farm alongside our team, no fee. Private group workshops are paid instructional experiences ($45–$55/person + HST). CSR days are custom-quoted. Not sure which fits? Fill in any form and we’ll help you decide.

Can a CSR day include The Barn and catering? Yes. The Barn at Zawadi Farm can be included as part of a full CSR experience — farm work in the morning, a meal in The Barn in the afternoon. Catering is quoted separately. Mention this in the CSR inquiry form.

How far in advance should we book? School visits and volunteer days: at least 2–3 weeks ahead. CSR days with custom programming: 4–6 weeks. Include preferred dates in the relevant form and we’ll confirm availability within 2 business days.
