FoodShare Toronto featured Zawadi Farm as part of their launch of the Advancing Food Justice Box — a CSA box featuring hyper-local produce from growers of colour. The feature introduces Jessey Njau and the story behind the farm: his move from Kenya to Canada, his years in the tech sector, and the decision to build something rooted in land, community, and the principle that good food should be accessible to everyone.
The Advancing Food Justice Box represented an early and concrete expression of the values Zawadi Farm has built on — that food access is inseparable from food justice, and that the farmers growing the most nutritious and culturally relevant produce in Toronto are often the ones with the least structural support.
